Sigh!

I saw this when I was at the A&W outlet, Petaling Jaya and reported it to SYABAS (Toll Free Line 1-800-88-5252). They said there was a burst pipe somewhere up the road and this may be a 'flushing' exercise (whatever that means). Just seems like an awful waste of water. Damn!

Kuala Lumpur Court Complex

Check out this short video clip that I managed to capture yesterday afternoon. Due to it's design faults, the court complex has it's own set of problems and this is just one of them. This video is taken at the initial stage of the rain. Give it another 10 minutes and the water level would be higher

Here is a link of the extent of the problems faced in the court complex :

Anderson Silva vs. Demian Maia - UFC 112

As far as the UFC is concerned I am a full fledged arm-chair warrior. I like the sport for the athletes it produces and the dedication put in by these fighters. I admire their discipline and work ethics in trying to become the best in their field. But once in a while something happens that really puts a damper in our view of things.

Take the recent UFC event held in Abu Dhabi with the main even being the Anderson Silva vs. Demian Maia fight with Silva being the chanmpion and Maia the challenger. From rounds 3 onwards, there was only 1 fighter in the ring. It was a weird fight to say the least with the champ dancing around the octagon and not engaging the challenger. I thought Anderson Silva was not giving the respect due to his challenger.

But the thing that really got to me was the never say die attitude of the challenger, Demian Maia. I am looking at this man in a new light. It was very obvious that he was out-gunned by the supremely lethal Anderson Silva but yet he was pushing forward trying to engage the champ and at 1 point even swinging and slugging at the champ from his knees and in the end, the challenger lost the bout on points.

BUT WHAT CAN WE TAKE AWAY FROM THIS? To me it is this : never say die, never give up and persist till the very end. In life you may lose your 'fight' (whatever that you may endeavour) but at least you know you tried your best and in the end that is all that matters.

Check out the link below to watch the fight :

Not Shittin On Ya (No Pun Intended) But Come On

This has got to be one of the weirdest pictures I have taken in a long time. For the life of me I cannot fathom why such a signboard would exist. Pray for wealth, health, world peace, MJ's soul whatever, but this? Again, i don't mean to shit on nobody but come on! Am I missing the point here?

Kinokuniya 8th Anniversary Promotion

Just a little bit of news for you bookworms out there. Kinokuniya is having a sale of sorts . From 1 April to 30 April 2009, every RM80 spent on a single receipt entitles you to a one Daruma-eye sticker. Completion of a pair of eyes allows you to enjoy a 28% on one book of your choice on your next purchase. This promotion is however only valid for walk-in customers.

Basically Kinokuniya will give you a cut-out of the 'Daruma face' you see in the pic above but without any eyes. For every purchase of RM80, you will get an eye sticker for the face. Once you spend RM160 which entitles you to 2 eyes, you will then enjoy 28% off one book using this Daruma coupon.

Smiley!

I think this might be the first time that I've seen the stars and the moon in this alignment. So with the Leica always being the handy companion nowadays, here is a shot of the smiley sky.

Pulau Penang High Court

It took me approximately 16 hours to complete my hearing at the Penang High Court today. This is how a typical day of a peguam in Malaysia can look like :

4.00 a.m. : Wake up time

4.30 a.m. : started the drive to Penang

8.30 a.m. : arrive at the Penang High Court

8.45 a.m. : filed 2 affidavits relating to the hearing I was conducting

9.00 a.m. : registered my name with the court interpreter and inspected the court file to obtain the enclosure numbers of the documents in the court file

9.05 a.m - 2.00 p.m. : waited for the matter to be called ( & while waiting I also did the following : talked cock with fellow lawyers, listened to the ipod, watched BJJ videos on the ipod, went to toilet, came back from toilet, thought about the drive home to KL, had a sudden craving for Char Kuey Teow, suppressed the sudden craving for Char Kuey Teow, reflected on whether I was a good father to my 2 girls etc)

2.05 p.m : matter called and went into chambers to see the Judge

2.10 p.m. : hearing completed

2.15 p.m. : had One Tonne Mee at the Rio Hotel & Kedai Kopi

3.00 p.m. : went for a workout at Clark Hatch @ the Heritage Club

4.30 p.m. : started the journey back to KL

8.30 p.m. : arrived back home

Out of 16 hours, only 5 minutes was related to 'work'. Ok what!

Raja Musang

Meet my new friend, the Raja Musang. Today I had a chance to meet Raja Musang again after a first encounter 2 weeks ago. I am sad to inform you that things didn't go down well for him. Durians nowadays have such fancy names. We started off with the Red Prawn, then on to the Margerine and finally to Raja Musang.

Somehow you just know that this stuff is bad for you when it tastes this good!

So everything in moderation lah.

Early Morning Greeting

This is the greeting nearly every KLite gets each morning. No wonder we are tired before work even starts. This video was taken at 10 am (don't ask me what I was doing home at 10am on a working day). But I did say this affected NEARLY every KLite didn't I?

I know, I'll shut up now.
