Sabak Bernam

I managed to somehow land my behind in the beautiful district of Sabak Bernam last Tuesday (20 May 2008) specifically to the town of Sungai Besar. It took me roughly 2 hours to get there from my home at Old Klang Road. To get here head north towards Kapar and from there follow the road-signs which will lead you to Kuala Selangor, Tg Karang, Sekinchan and finally Sg. Besar and beware of speed traps along this stretch of road (a tip from the locals)

As you can see, it is predominantly an agricultural area with vast tracts of land reserved to padi cultivation. Apparently the highest padi yields in Malaysia are located here in this district. Other than that there wasn't much activity although I did drive by a few stalls selling something called mentarang by the road-side. As far as I could see, mentarang seems to be some sort of shellfish (I couldn't pull up to have a look as I was kinda speeding and didn't want to risk an abrupt stop). Will get some pictures taken the next time I am there
